I have a J30t that I rectenly replaced all 6 of my spark plugs because I was having a major knock and at start up I would have to hold the pedal to the floor and then it would smoke like crazy a bluish-tinged smoke. So what was assumed was the spark plugs were bad and when taken out they showed major signs of wear. Now with all of them replaced the computer is still telling my #1 spark plug to remain open and dump fuel into that cyclinder. Now no other spark plug is having a problem with their ground but occasionally 3, 5, and #1 coils will not fire correctly. Bascily I was wondering if anyone has heard of these problems and if there is anything that can be done. I brought the car used last November when it only had 94k miles and its a 93', i brought from a broker and now I am thinking I got a lemon. PLEASE HELP ME, Ijust need some advise because this is my first car and I really dont have money to scrap and start again. Any help would be highly appreciated

What do you mean the computer is telling the spark plug to remain open and dump fuel?

You might have some bad coil packs causing the misfire problem.

Welcome to NICO!!!

Did you use OEM Nissan sparkplugs (NGK's laser platinums)? If not, that's part of your problem.

What made you say all those, how do you know or make you think you know what the computer is telling what? Did your machanic or your friends told you so?Pull the code from the computer and may be we can start from there.

No offense Mr driverdriver, my opinion is, unless it was an idot at the part store gave him a totally wrong set of plugs which is for a totally different car, as long as they are for a VG30DE from a NGK V-power to a Autolite standard copper, they are not going give you any more problems then the "Nissan OEM Laser Platinum", i never put the "OEM" in any of my Nissan/Infiniti because they are pricey and not available in local store, and they never give me problem, and i am sre that even someone have some Bosch Platinum+4(my least favour) in their J with no problem at all.

Right now I have it at a mechanic and he told me that he used re-manufactured spark plugs. I am not sure the brand. I am new to this car thing and dont really know anything. What I was told was that the fuel injector in the first cyclinder is remaining open and filling the cyclinder up with fuel and the ECU is suppose to ground out the injector and stop it from spraying and mine does not ground properly. Also, a couple of coils do not fire correctly but olny at random not consistently. I really appreciate the quickness with the responses you guys rock. if this new info helps please let me know

I just relized that I am a real idiot and am sorry for that misprint about spark plugs staying open, I really meant the fuel injectors, like I said I am new sorry.

Hey Gregwithaj30t - nothing to apologize about. Everybody makes a mistake.

I agree with driverdriver, having oem plug even though they are expensive makes a big difference. When I acquired my J30 (just few weeks ago) my vehicle would also knock at idle making me think my injectors were bad. I got my plugs changed, replaced air filter, fuel filter and vehicle idles smooth.. I am just giving my side of the story. Installing other plugs may just would have done the same. My vehicle had Bosch plats installed in them when I got it.

Your case if ofcourse different than mine, as your car is throwing code that an injector is open.

Well to be honset, since your car is at your mechanic, there isn't much we can do to help, but to give you some general ideas, also hope he is a good and honest mechanic.Basically, we have not way to contradict what he said and you can't go do tests of your own. A lot of things could be cause your running problem, injector/s, coil/s, MAF sensor, ECU........Again, let's hope you have a good and honset mechanic working on your car, or you'll be in big trouble, money wise.
