Seeing that the information on this swap is very vague, I think I screwed myself(sorta). Today I went to the junkyard and picked up a 93 J30 VLSD. I can't find any place with a 95+ one that will just bolt in. I had googled this topic and was under the impression that I would just have to swap the j30 guts into my s14 pumpkin and use the s14 output shafts as an alternative. So I get home and I can't remember why I searched it but i finally found a slightly more informative thread said you still have to use the j30 output shafts, Is this true? Do I need to go all the way back to the pull-a-part(90 miles away) and try to get the end links or find output shafts from a 95+ vlsd? if so does anyone know of any place to find them? I really don't want to have to use that gas to drive all the way back. Money is pretty tight right now.

If you dont get the early model 3 tab/6 bolt output shafts you have to use the late J30 CV axles (5tab/5bolt).

That's what I was afraid of. Hopefully a guy is buying my subs and amp this weekend, and Ill drive back on monday or tuesday of next week to get those axles. Anyone know what tools Ill need? so far it seems like the biggest things are a 36mm socket and a hub puller. Thanks alot for the help

I always used a rubber mallet instead of a hub puller, but then again I put in my first SR with a K-mart home improvement toolset...

Definitely bring a strong metal bar to wedge between the wheels studs for when you torque off the shaft nuts or a friend to stand on the brakes (assuming they are still attached). And pliers to get the safety pin out. Pretty simple.

Should have known that it could never be that easy. Looks like another day of fun in the sun in the junkyard. I also guess I better contact z1 about exchanging my 1 piece driveshaft for an abs one
