Alot of companies offer chroming of alloy wheels. I do know that Nissan at one time had a tech bulletin regarding wheel chroming and they were against it. There reasoning, during the chroming process, the metal in the aluminum would change to a more brittle state and you could possibly have a wheel failure. I have seen several vehicles at our Infiniti service department with the wheels that have been chromed. Alot of times the factory will send dealers information due to the fact that ONE out of THOUSANDS of a particular part has failed, and to keep down on lawsuits, they have to OFFER the customer a replacement. This type issue is very well noticed when it concerns a safety item. (air bags, seat belts, brakes, suspension parts, etc). Personally, I havent seen or ever heard of any problems with chroming the alloy wheels, I would make very certain that the company doing the job knows the business in what they are doing!
