Hello, I have been having some problems with my J30. First problem is that the hazards/turn signals do not work and i can not find the the switch ( does anyone know where they are at? ) Second. When the car is on and running and i switch to turn my headlights on then highbeams you can hear the car kinda lose it's power; kinda sounds like it's idling lower. Could this be a problem with the alternator? or perhaps do i need a tune up? Also when i start the car i hear a loud squealing noise comming from one of the belts im not sure if it's the cold or the belts themselves; any help would be greatly appreciated!

The Belts on the J need to be tighter than any other car Ive had.

The squeal could be a belt slipping or the Tensioner pulley going out.

Make sure all the belts are tight and have the alternator and battery tested asap.

Please familiarize your self with your car better by reading the owners manual (Should be in the glove box)

And also read the ENTIRE FSM till you feel you have memorized EVERY page of it. http://Nicoclub.com/FSM/J30

You should also have a paper copy inside our vehicle some where, if not get a paper copy of Ebay.

But for now here is a picture of where the hazard switch is, It is circled in red.

To replace the hazzard switch go here: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/J30/1994_J30/bf.pdf Then go to page BF-39.

Just a guess but I think he means the relay that runs the lights.Kinda hard to not see the switch itself

yeah lol i meant the relay for it. I 've been looking and i have no clue where it's at and now my turn signals or my hazard signals will not work and all i hear is a fast click click click. Anyway.. I dropped it off at the shop tonight so we'll see if it is the alternator.

Are the turn signal bulbs all good?

I would replace EVERY exterior bulb you can beside the headlights (There cheap so don't complain), Clean the sockets with electrical parts cleaner then put a little bulb grease.

That might solve your problem, But to my knowledge there isn't a "Hazard relay" there is only a switch, wire and lights. You can go through the wiring diagram and I can guarantee you you won't find a "relay" in there for hazard lights.

Plus as i said while working on my cars dash i removed the hazard switch and I went for a joy ride and when the time came to turn I then saw I had no turn signals.

And FYI (For Your Information) a switch is a relay.

Please see page EL-41 if you care to see the wiring diagram for the turn signals/hazard lights.

i guess it could be the turn signal bulbs. But it doesnt make sense as to why they arent comming up on the dash well i'll replace the bulbs if that's what they are. And i do understand that the relay is the switch but there should be a relay that connects the hazards and turn signals no? When i push the hazard button in sometimes the signals come up and sometimes nothing at all happens or i just hear a real fast clicking noise.

It's a curcuit. If the bulbs are burned out the current will not reach the dash. That is how some cars let you now the bulbs are burned out. Not sure if the Jay fits that bill, but would not be surprised.

The J has a light in the cluster that will go red if a bulb is bad or pulling to much/little current.
