Hello All. Shoutout to Swimshark for all of your help. Over last 3 months J30 CEL has been intermittenly throwing code 43 (TPS) . I change TPS (non OEM) to a new aftermarket but not getting the .05 reference voltage from ECU to set TPS. What's strange is that transmission shifts normally after several clicks of ignition switch on a warm day but on colder days tranny doesn't shift until hitting 3000 rpms. A mechanic measured ECM voltage output from back of ECU for TPS and it showed a negative .05 reference to TPS. Could this be a sign of a bad ECU or relay issue? If anyone has experienced this please reply. I also need a good refferal to a competent Infiniti tech in NY or NJ who's familiar with a 1993 J. Went to one dealer and they can't diagnois '93. No FSM on their system.

Thanks

I remember reading somewhere about bad TCM (transmission control module) could affect the 5v going to TPS....try disconnecting TCM ( driver side kick panel) and see if the 5v returns to TPS

It was on a site like Alldata.
My mechanic showed me the page he printed out when we were diagnosing a problem with my J30. Just disconnect the TCM and see if +5v returns to TPS at idle...if it does, plug TCM back in and see if -5v returns.

I remember one of the symptoms was not being able to accelerate past 2,000 rpms in any gear. Not sure if you're experiencing this symptom!

HI fourdrinie. Finally found issue. It was combination of a bad temperature sensor and a shorted shielded wire feeding voltage to TPS. Had a bad ground also. Did a complete electrical diagnostic and that isolated problem. ECU/ECM is good but finding a shorted wire is not easy. Thanks for your help!
