Sorry to say this, but from what I've read, the most common method of removing it when it's stuck is to cut it off with a grinder. Did the job once, but luckily for us it slid right off. There's a how-to posted somewhere on the web for the 300zx, which is probably identical to your vehicle. It had a really nice tip on using a piece of rolled vellum as a shop aid for seating the seal properly without it falling off. Very frustrating without it. Worth the search.
