I have a '93 Infiniti G20 and the starter is bad. It took me a while to even find the starter, it is located on top of the transmission in the bach of the engine. where it is sitting is really tight spot to get to, does anyone have a good suggestion on a easy way to pull my starter??? Any Info. at all would be great!

Will, you are in luck. I have a 94 G20 and just replaced the started today. It took me 4 hours at the MCChord Air Force base using their lift and tools.

The thing I was not sure about was removing the brass looking triangle shaped sheet of metal kinda hiding the starter.

Here is how I did the change:disconnect the neg. battery cableremove the air intake, a little tricky but just remember what hoses you undo.removed the two bolts holding the starter from the top. once you get the air intake off, you can see them pretty good. I used a 14mm for those two bolts.next, raise the g20 or ramp it and crawl under. remove the brass looking plate hiding the starter. think they are 12mm bolts on top and 14 mm on the bottom.I was not able to completely take the brass plate out, but by taking the bolts and nuts off, it can be moved to the side easily.next slide the starter out so you can disconnect the cables. there are two of them, one from the battery and the other connects to the solinoid.the starter slides out fairly easy after that.I used a new, not remanufactured starter from NSA. It was $140 with no shipping and no tax. figured better to use new rather than rebuild because of how hard it is to change.

the only real problme I had was that the NSA starter was a perfect fit except the old starter had never been replaced and the small wire that was attached to the solinoid was soldered! so, I cut the connecter and soldered the cut end and used the snap end to snap into the connecter on the wiring.

put everything back together and it sounds great. if you have any other questions just email me at [email protected]

it was a pain to do, but saved a great deal of money. i am sure the nissan dealer would have charged $400-$500 for a new starter plus labor.

good luck.

lloyd
