Hey guys, I can't get my radio, dome light and some other things to work. I've checked relays, fuses and wiring and I can't seem to find anything. Any ideas?

Thanks
Jeff

The dome lights and radio are on the same fuse IIRC. Was the radio recently replaced? Perhaps there is a short in the power circuit?

Just got it, there was a radio in there but it wasn't connected. I pulled my working radio from my trusty rusty hardbody that i'm retiring. Got correct harness and everything. Even pulled the working dome light unit just to make sure. It's very dark at night where I live so I've just got a flashlight in there now. A/C and radio same fuse, a/c works. Cig lighter works, dash lights etc. Everything is in order except the radio and dome light. :( I've got a multimeter, but I'm not good with the schematics. I wouldn't even know where to start.

First thing open door be sure switch on dome light is in ON position and wiggle the wiring harness in radio bay. may be a short in the harness. if that does not work put meter on dome light terminals where bulb goes in and see if it is getting 12 volts to it, bulb may be blown. Check and see if you have power to the harness on ground to the 12 volt supply line. Check here do search on radio harness I used to have the wiring color code and posted it here, or use the one with the harness adapter you bought.

On radio harness remember there is a positive that is switched and will only be hot when key is on, the constant 12volt wire should be hot all the time, it is used to keep memory chip powered with key off to save radio settings. Always start at radio bay, and then move to the light, it could be corroded connection or bulb or switch on the light. Find if you have power in radio bay first then eliminate the light possibilities.

i had the same problem with mine ony it was causing enough of a short to drain the battery where it wouldnt start. dollar for doughnuts says youve got a short in the line. you can check for drains using a multi meter. acceptable drain (i belive) is 0.5 on your multi meter... a goood way to check is to have your muli meter on the terminals and have somebody inside the cab pulling fuses. when your drain goes to or below acceptable levels, then you found the circut your drain is on and you might just have to re run some wires

is your clock on the same circut. you mention that just your dome light and your radio, my clock is on the same circit as radio and dome light.

Mine doesn't have a clock. I spot checked some things that are working like the cig lighter etc, they are getting 12v. I know my radio harness and dome light are good, I took them out of my other truck. There is NO voltage whatsoever at the light or the radio :( I gotta put some new carpet and clean the seat so that would be as good a time as any to take the dash apart.

Anything I should look for besides any obvious wiring stuff?

Well,I've got 12v at fuse box and through fusible links. I've also got 12v on the acc wire on the radio, but no battery voltage :( I'm looking through the schematics right now
