My guides or guide parts are caught in the timing chain sprocket. Any one know best way to fix? Motor is locked up most likely due to pieces in sprocket. Can i loosen the chain and work the stuff out and put back on without taking it out of time? Also I need a service manual - any one have a source?

Its time for a rebuild or a new motor.

You can find a Factory Service Manual at http://www.phatg20.net

The '94 FSM works just fine for the '93

Thanks for the feedback but I hope like Hell you're wrong. I'm guessing this means that debris stuck in the timing chains and sprockets wouldn't be enough to lock up the entire engine? Anyone else had a problem like this? Wes, Q45Tech, what about you guys?

Probably not, but you will need to retrieve all the pieces and determine if there are additional missing ones in your sump.

You will have to retime when you rebuild and check compression.

See why we are so adamant about preemptive inspection and replacement of the timing chain guides?

Hmm, I guess finding a nice chunk of connecting rod in the pan would probablty answer whatever questions I might have, yes. I think I might've been hoping against hope that it wasn't anything worse than debris jamming the timing chain, but I'm this close to letting T3 deal with it. Thanks for the help, guys.

I bought this car from a guy who did not do the chain guides; it was in this condition when I got it. Really hate to see such a beautiful car go to the junkyard so I am trying with a limited budget to get it back on the road.

I am off work for the next couple of weeks and have time, tools and motivation - you know the story my wife, neighbor, son in law, people at work - all say I made a big mistake and that the car is not worth the trouble. Can’t wait to fire it up and wax their mustang driving asses!

I got the old chain pieces out of the sprocket and removed the oil pump chain. The motor (timing sprocket) will turn about 120 degrees both ccw and cw, feels like valve is pressing on a piston?Thinking about putting the chains back to the correct position and then try to turn the motor, by hand. If it will turn buy hand then try a compression test. Maybe that will isolate the problem to one side, then order parts and begin the rebuild.

Please weight in guys the life a beautiful Q45 depends on it!

It's a compressed file. Use winrar or winzip to open it. Good luck.
