About two years ago I got an Alpine headunit installed. Back then, I really knew nothing about car audio. When I got the receipt back, I saw that Tweeter had charged a lot to do an "Amplifier Bypass." I knew that my G20 had an active speaker system, so I just assumed that they bypassed the car's amplifier in favor of the one in Alpine's headunit.

Now today I was in my trunk trying to get rid of the rattling my sub was causing. I noticed that the two Clarion amplifiers were very rattley, so I decided to take them out. Now lo and behold, I get no sound coming out of the speakers. I quickly found out that Tweeter had bypassed the amp in Alpine's headunit in favor of the car's.

I have two questions.A) Which amplifier should I use? The Clarions that came with the car, or the Alpine in the headunit?B) If I SHOULD use the one in the headunit, is there any way I can do that without re-wiring the whole speaker system througout the car?

Thanks a lot...

might wanna direct that to the stereo forum , in my g i had the same system , i was told that the car would need rewired to remove the stock amps , and then out any kind of amp it wouldnt sound as good as it did with aftermarket headunit and stock setup vs aftermarket headunit with ampless speakers , if i remeber coorectly each amp feeds seperate sides , left and right ..id just keep them in there if they still work , may be able to tighten them up for place some foam aroudn them to aid in antirattle efforts

like i said tho id post over in the car stereo forums , there beatter at the stuff then i am , i just know how to put turbos and other mechaincal stuff on G20s
