I'm gonna race an '02 vw 1.8t in february in the 1/8th. He has intake and blow off valve. All I have engine-wise is intake, so im pretty much stock. I have Tein HAs for all that matters. How hard should i set my dampers? Who do you think will win?

My friend has an Integra LS with an itake that beat a jetta turbo. The jetta was stock though. I beat the LS by around a car length and I only have an intake so it will be close.

I am sorry, but the jetta I think should beat you. the cars run mid to low 15's stock, and then with the imporvements he should be low 15s. You shouldn't get more than low 16s. If I were you, this is the question I would be asking myself....... "got boost??" lol.

i agree, you'll lose.... i ran vs a stock audi 1.8t once which is similar to the jetta engine wise i guess., if i remember right it was AWD as well which makes this an irelevant post. but ...( i was stock as well at the time) off the line we were close.. but at like 3rd gear he was about 1/2 to 3/4 a car ahead of me... by then it was over...

goodluck though...

Yeah, you're screwed unless he blows a shift or something... maybe he'll have some weird problem...

What kind of driver is he? Is he good? Are you? If he's good, I wouldn't put any money on the race...

it's FWD, not AWD. I know he has traction problems, he told me himself. Also he has no LSD. The fact he does 15s and I do 16s is somewhat helpful, and I have no doubt he will beat me in the quarter, but I'm talking about the 1/8th. I really think it's gonna be a driver's race.... unless he gets that boost controller by then :(

Audis and Golfs are slight different, I hurt a Golf (stock) from about 60-120, and hung with another had had BOV and intake (although the guy was HUGE), he eventually began pulling on me.

1.8t Jettas are slugs though...

it's a golf. that's the 2 door hatchback one, right? I looked around for specs and i remember it had something like 180hp and 160lbs/trque. I remember the curb weight being osmething like 2800lbs or so. Maybe I should get that asp pulley before then?

1.9 diesel?? haha, I didn't know they made diesels that small. Those Cummins Diesels are like 8.2.

Mercedes has a European-market econobox that is equipped with an 800cc diesel.

The Cummins diesels go in large trucks, not compact cars. The VW TDI in a Golf can be modded to make large amounts of power, especially torque. I have a friend with an '01 Golf TDI that will hand you your arse unless you're turbo'd or have an n/a buildup well beyond the I/H/E. The downside to that is that he has a fair amount of cash tied up in it. He still gets 40-50mpg if he's not on the throttle however. Crazy basturd.

hey, it still will be fun man, MO is that you cant compare forced induction to a na motor, its just not fair to the na. If you had a turbo on your motor and ran the same boost it did, you would smash the thing. keep ya head up buddy
