quick question...the FSM says to tighten to 11-15 ft. lbs...I lack the proper tool to be able to tell....how much should i tighten it?...I'm worried about stripping it out or something...it barley moves right now..but I can tighten it further...I'd rather not slap the new oil filter on to only realize that it wasn't tight enough or I over tightened it...(it was leaking before and I'm trying to fix it)

any help appreciated

i'd suppose you use a little teflon tape and from experience a 3/8 wratchet should do, also try to feel itif it get to hard stop, remember you are working on a aluminum piece( i might be wrong on that one, but am pretty sure) just go for it with a 3/8, hold it as close as you can to it's head, and start tightening if you feel it's not enough go a little farther down the handle and so on., 14 pounds of pressure is barely anything so be careful!

I tightened it down to the point where i really couldn't move it anymore with out putting a good amount of pressure behind it..I felt pretty confident about it and I filled it back up with oil and everything started it up and it's not shooting out like it was so I guess it was loose..but it looks like the oil is coming through the the center of the electrical connection for the dummy light now...it's a pretty steady drip and I'm not sure what to do about it...I need the car for work tomorrow but i don't have any cash for any parts today, I spent the last of my money on the oil and filter >.<

edit:...ok nvm...i'm dumb lol..it's not coming through the center a little bit more poking around and it's leaking from the side and the oil ij just flowing where ever it can..i can hold my finder the edge of the unit and the oil will flow down my hand and not through the center...

yep, I replaced the old filter with a new K&N and made sure the lip the oil filter seals against was clean and didn't have any nicks or anything on it...I'm gonna go ahead and take the oil press. sending unit off and wrap the threads with teflon tape...I'm not sure the shop who worked on the motor last bothered to do that..they messed up and half assed alot of things with this car
