Waht is the difference between the two blocks? Would the 96 head bolt on to the block? I can get the complete motor for 100$ was going to put the cam in my head right now and build a turbo block with new pistons and rods. Could I use 96 rods and pistons or would i have to use 93'sthanks

I see no reason why you couldn't use the 93 head on the 96 and visa versa.

However the rods and pistons are different in the 96 engine (heavier, hence the lower redline) and typically you want to rebore at least a .020. I'd just keep with whats running and build the spare block.

The 93 engine cams aren't the hotter KA cams, you're looking for the 91-92 engine cams AFAIK.

The question is why...

You can't bore a block .020" over and install factory pistons... you need oversized pistons.

Building the bottom end generally consists of forged pistons, forged rods, microfinished bearings, ARP studs, and a re-finished/shotpeened/chamffered/rebalanced crankshaft.

Keep the components together... I'd stick with the 93 head on the 93 block if you can do it that way. But I am not aware of any differences that wouldn't allow you to use the 96 head apart from you'll need to mill it so that you ensure a proper seal.

Can you confirm this. I recall several people at least one of the nissan boards/lists saying the part#'s were the same. And this had conflicted with the original thought that the S14 KA had hyperteutic pistons which was why it was a big deal.

They don't have hyperteutic pistons... but clearly the redline on the S14 is lower, which is due to the increased gram weight of the S14 reciprocating mass.

son of a b not paying attention:mad:

to answer your question is that i'm building a turbo motor and i can get this motor for 100 bucks which is pretty cheap the reason about the heads is that i don't what the headache of putting in a 93 harness and going to obd 1
