I have a 1993 convertable SE, red, that I just picked up from my doctor. She had someone run a red light and clip the front. Front end, from In-Front of the wheels is pushed over 2.4 inches.

131K milesFresh $2700 complete engine rebuildBrand new top (but not rear window yet)Brake job, including turned rotors.A/C works great!Pumped Stereo system was just stolen

The paint is loosing it's clear coat. There's a scuff along the rear quarter and bumper. Headlights, Turnsignals work, cruise dosn't. Front Bumper cover is fine along with passenger headlight and fender. Hood has a bit of a bow to it, but might be okay if someone sat on it. She drives and cruises just fine!

I don't know yet how to post photos here. But if, IF you would really be interested, I could e-mail you some. I'm located in Santa Rosa, North Cali area. There's no problem driving it home. Just paid new registration and the title is clear. Nitro

UPDATE: The insurance company decided this afternoon to total it. So it will come with a California Salvage title.

The damage is not that bad, but I guess with the going body-shop rates it's more expensive to fix than Kelly Blue Book value.

You should consider parting it out. You might have better luck, and you might get just as much for it in the end.

Agreed.

$1500 is a little much for a totalled 240, vert or not.

Convertibles, unfortunately, are more of a liability than an asset, due to the expense involved in some of the replacement parts.

Yeah, the replacement parts and service are crazy. It's gonna cost me $400 -$700 just to replace the left tie rod and tie rod end and get the front end inspected. So I can see where an insurance company would just say to have it totaled. Before everyone jumps on me for havin it done at a shop, The technical owner of my car, my dad, is paranoid that I will screw it up if I try to do it myself even though i have been working on 240's since i was 15. Next thing, no I'm not a 30 year old guy livin at home with my parents and my dad buys me cars. I'm headed to college and the 240 was an early graduation present. It's in my dad's name because if we put it under my name my insurance goes up $500 a month! Well now that I have suffeciently rambled, yeah I share your pain with the insurance people. Gotta have it though(or be able to out run those cops after they ask you for it and you dont have it.) I agree that parting it out would probably be a more proffitable solution, but we all know how hard it is to just dismantle a car you have sentimental value for. In the end though I would part it out. Good luck. -Chris-
