I'm looking at a '93 Q45 tomorrow, and it has 143k miles on it. Supposedly there are maintenance records, but IF there's nothing about the guides, can one reasonably think that with 143k on it, they've already been done? In other words, have any '90-93 gone this mileage and not already done their damage? Thanks in advance.Brandon

So far, we've seen lots of 93s with the metal backed guides. I dont know of any 93s on this forum with plastic ones.

That said, this forum cannot confirm whether all 1993 model year Q45s got the metal guides. It is said that Nissan started using the newer guides as they came down the production line, so the theory is that early 93s got plastic and late 93s got metal. Just a theory.

In other words, pay to have the front cover removed so the guides can be inspected. There is no way to be 100% sure.

My memory is quite different. Only 1 or 2 1993 had metal backed guides, but in neither case was the car owned from new so OEM guide status was unconfirmed.
