93 Altima oil light

My oil light flashes on and off occasionally. It happens most often when I am accelerating just after the auto trans. has shifted from 1st to 2nd gear around 2500 rpm's. The light never comes on when it is just idling but sometimes as I am slowing down. Weak oil pump? bad sensor? Thanks for the help.

Assuming you have checked your oil level and it is correct, there are a few possibilities. Oil sludge clogging the oil pickup is the most common cause I have seen with your symptoms. Also a damaged oil pan/ oil pickup tube is a common cause. These are fairly easy to check. There are about 10-10mm bolts sealing the oil pan. Drain the oil and remove the pan. Any damage or sludge will be easy to see. Weak oil pump or a bad sensor could cause the light but are not common.
