I have a 93 300zx NA I just bought used this week.
There is a skip in the engine and I checked the ecu and got code 55 which is nothing supposedly wrong in the ecu covered components. could this be a timing belt issue as the car has 127k on it and not sure if the 120k tune up was preformed? Also there is a squeal at times coming from the engine bay causing me to think either a belt is slipping or the timing belt pulleys bearings are bad.

Look inside your engine bay either inside the hood or on the valve covers. There should be a sticker with the mileage of the timing belt change. If not, assume it is due and install the full 120k kit. If the belt breaks, your engine is toast.

As far as the miss, make sure to clean all of the connectors. Start with the coil packs, then injectors, Crank angle sensor, MAF, PTU, etc. Many misses are due to dirty, corroded connections.

Good luck and congrats!

Thanks, I'll go look for those. I just replaced the front pads and rotors yesterday so I guess I will be doing a 120k service now hahah.
