Car: Working on my car

Post

Well car ran fine this morning but when I parked her at work and came out 6 hours later to go home the car wouldn't start.

It won't turn over or crank or anything. The battery is fine, I even tried to jump it but that didn't work, the fuel pump works fine(checked that). I didn't have time to try to push start it but I plan on attempting that tomorrow. When I try to start it nothing happens but the dash lights come on along with my cd player and SAFCII.

For the past several months I have been battling with a bad stumble during acceleration and the car occasionally dies coming to a stop even with the clutch pushed in all the way. I am at my wits end trying to figure it out, I bought a new maf, reground everything and checked voltages on most everything. Now this happens and I am just stumped, I am assuming it is either the starter itself or the clutch sensor(don't know the exact name but the thing that registers that clutch is pushed in so you can start the car).

My car is a 93' 240 hatch with 91,000 miles on the KA engine. Please help if you can, I don't want to have to tow my baby.

I assume the starter is not cranking the engine and all you get is a click when you turn the key to the start position. have someone help you by holding your key in the start position while you smack the starter with a tire iron or a hammer if you can get it up in there. if your car starts your starter is bad if not it is either the clutch interlock relay or the clutch switch on your clutch pedal. most likely the relay.

Thanks for the info. I got up early and checked everything I could on the car and then I pulled the plug wires....

#1 cylinder is fine, then I pulled #2 and oil and crap flowed out..... So either my piston ring went or my head gasket blew. I had the car towed this morning so I am going to check to see if coolant was in the oil mess. Also #3 cylinder had some oil crap in it too. Oh well, so much for it being a small fix.

no it still is a small fix. both your valve cover gaskets need to be repaired the inner one is leaking into the spark plug wells. replace the gaskets remove the plugs spray brake clean down the wells a little bit and crank the engine with no plugs in it to clear the brake clean from the cyl's. reassemble....

you made it sound as the engine is not cranking with the starter which wouldnt be from the oil. are you saying the engine is turning over but not running??

Ok then you need to do as I said early smack the starter with the key held in the crank position.
