actually you didn't search enough. This could be a number of problems.

When you said you turn your brights on, do you mean headlights or high beams? I'm guessing just headlights.

Going from easiest to hardest:

1) Check your taillight bulbs, sidemarkers, and fuses. And the little dimmer switch on the cluster surround, the white TCU box by the driver side kick panel, etc.

2) Did you install a radio recently? If so, there's a host of problems associated with that.

3) Inspect the back of the gauge cluster

4) Search... try things like "dash lights" or "cluster lights" etc. This has been covered to death.

5) Replace your cluster. or whatever else needs to be replaced if it comes to it.

well i searched for headlight problems, because it is associated with my headlights. i didnt think about searching for that. i do have a tail light bulb out but i didnt think that would affect it. its only when i turn my high beams on (brights) that everything in the dash goes out. im pretty sure all the fuses are fine, my high beams work fine and all the dash lights work until i turn the high beams on. i do have a radio installed and it still is on when i turn the high beams on, but it was in there when i bought it which was over a year ago and i never had time to check my high beams before the car died on me. if that helps any, but i will search again. if anybody knows i would appreciate the help.

try cycling your head lights from off to on while the sticks in the high beam position. Could be a bad contact in the head light switch.
