I have the opportunity to get a 93 240sx coupe for next to nothing. The car has 120K on it but is in fair shape. Its an auto and a KA of course. At this point it appears this vehicle has a blown head gasket or worse. With the possibility of a new engine or at least a head. It also has an Auto transmission. My question is to get some good hp gains, around 220-250 at the wheels, what type of dollars will I be looking at. I have searched and found so much info, just would like some of your personal experiences. If it needs an engine I could swap to a 2.0, but would prefer to stay KA. I would like to have this car to play with but I dont want it to turn into a money pit. THe car will also need some cosmetic work ect but the engine is of the most importance at this time. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all who take the time to respond!

it would be pretty hard to get 220+ hp out of the KA while NA. i plan on turboing my KA with similar hp goals. do you want a manual? if i had that car id prolly buy a ka with manual transmission maybe turbo it if you have the money then swap it all in and use the origonal blown engine for parts. or you could order a SR that could prolly get you up to those hp #s with some bolt ons (not really sure cuz i dont research the SR that much).

If you want 220-250 at the wheels... SR is your best bet. If you want that out of a KA... good luck, it's gonna cost you so much more money and it'll be exactly what you don't want it to be... one hella big money pit. Just like MINE!

Modifying cars is always a money pit. Things break, and there is always that need for additional speed.
