This one I can honestly blame my wife for. Got her a 93 240 SX mid Feb 07, oil change, new tires, whatnot. Today on her way beck from a doctor's appt she realized she had the e-brake on for about 10 minutes, maybe 3 miles. Now she says the brakes don't respond as well (they were pretty good before). I'm not sure if it's ABS or not, I honestly don't know much about the car.

Also while I'm making a topic, Is there a good place to try and find a replacement valve for the windshield wiper fluid? It's the right one that's missing (when you're sitting inside).

Thanks in advance, and once I get it looking nicer I'll post some pics.

The function of the ebrake is to lock the rear pads onto the discs like a vice.

It takes some engine power to be able to move the rear wheels (as your wife was able to do).

More than likely, after three miles of extreme friction, the rear brakes were very very hot.. which was the cause for the reduced braking ability.

Let it sit for a while and have her drive it again (this time w.out the ebrake on). Ask her if the brakes are back to normal.. or still bad.

If they are still bad after you are sure they are cooled down properly.. go ahead and remove the rear wheels and take a look at the brake disc. If it looks like it's been gauged or damaged, you'd be wise to replace them. It's an easy task and we can walk you through that if need be.

As for the wiper fluid.. can you undo a paperclip and stick the end down into the hole and clean it out a bit. It's likely just jammed up with some dirt. If it doesn't help.. I'd call the local Nissan dealership and get a replacement. Will be the same as any 91-94 nissan 240.. they might call it a nozzle...

Welcome to the 'vert forum. Glad to have you aboard.

Let us know what we can do to help.

Also look for glazing on the rear brakes (the surfaces will be ultra-smooth) and keep an eye out for cracks on the rotors or pads. Those things often happen when you burn the brakes.

If the brake parts are damaged, it's not a big deal; the parts are very cheap, Like Eikon said, we can walk you through it.

Even if the brakes start behaving normally again, she may have boiled the brake fluid in the calipers. You should bleed the rear brakes at a bare minimum.

Well, I checked it out when I got home last night and the brakes worked fine. Like Eikon said it was probably just overheating. I'll definitely get them looked at though (I know jack all about cars)
