Hi! I've purchased a 240sx in bad condition and I am making an attempt to restore it. I've bought a Hanes Manuel but it doesn't seem to cover the convertible top. I've stripped all the interior out and when I hit the top up/down switch I get nothing. I've hooked a battery directory to the top hydralic motor and am able to raise and lower the top. I've test for power inside the switch connector and I get no power at all. I've check fuses and I am lost now.

Can anybody possibly point me in the right direction. Thanks

First might want to browse the Vert section:
240sx-convertible-forum.html

Then FSM sections, 91-94 and Convertible supplements mainly:
http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/240sx/

Has the car been 5 speed swapped, maybe the top needs to be jumped to avoid the P switch for the top?
That info is here:

Otherwise it sounds like there is an eletrical gremlin and going to take tracing wires/fuses/relays.

Thanks for the reply. Not sure if it makes any different but it has no trainy in it at the moment but it is wired for automatic. The shifter is not in their and I have the battery grounded to the body. From what I understand all the ground under the hood are for engine components so I figured it had nothing to do with the top. But like I said the the auto trainy plugs and the plugs to the shifter aren't connected to anything. I can't seem to find any fuses or relays to the top and the FSM isn't loading for me for some reason but will try later.

If there is no shifter in it, then the top safety that runs to the Park switch isn't hooked up to anything, so that should be what's stopping the top from working. Would either have to hook that up or bypass it (in the 5speed swap thread).

Okay well I have the shifter reinstalled with the plugs in it and put in park and still not getting nothing. I'm so lost in this where to start. There is no hot wires going to the switch still.
