1993 240SXS13 Blacktop SR20DETGT2871R .64Meagan Turbo ManifoldGreddy Downpipe

Ok...3rd time this has happened.

My Manifold-to-Turbo connection keeps coming loose. I was running hard today, but only under 10psi, and it came loose again for the 3rd time. Last time I had it fixed, which was last week btw, we noticed it had stud bolts (endless), holding it together. The shop got some new bolts shortened them to the right length and put nuts on the ends. Now it blew loose again and at this point I'm pretty TO'ed.

I dont know if this is common but I need a way to fix this, PERMANENTLY.

I was thinking of just taking off the manifold and turbo and welding them together...Is this a good idea or no?

If not what are my other options so it wont come loose again?

Thanks.

common problem. It happens to the best of us. I went to stage8.com and got the lock nut/washer setup. Search for this subject and you'll find the thread size/pitch you'll want to order. I've had mine for a couple years and never had any problems since.

Thank you.

Went searching but couldn't find the info on the bolts.

Anyone know by any chance the thread/pitch/type of bolts I need?

you might be able to call stage8. either that or get a buddy to take you to the hardware store with a nut you've pulled from the manifold/turbo and find it that way. I'm tempted to say m8x1.25 but check it for sure.

nah don't bother with loctite. it'll burn off with the temps coming from your exhaust manifold. just lock nut the bugger and it'll be resolved. With the stage8 stuff, the product from loctite you may want to look at is copper anti-seize though.

there are also some clips that are supposed to go ont he turbo to manifold seam to keep it from getting loose as well.

To also help from happening again replace your exhaust hangers if they are worn. I picked up some lock washers and stainless steel nuts from lowes and seems to be working fine so far.

You think some locking washers with internal teeth from home depot will work ok?

dunno, I'd assume the heat cycles from the metal expanding and then cooling off would cause them to loosen off the stud sooner or later still.

I would use a TAB washerIt should have TWO tabs on it. Bend one onto a flat of the bolt / nut whatever setup you have (some people put studs in or just use bolts)then fold the other to the turbo manifold. that way it keeps it from moving somewhatas well use a lock washer if possible

Well, I ordered the lock nut/washer set from stage8.com today, they really need to update their website, seems they have a kit for turbos with the size we need and everything but you need to call over the phone. Thanks for the reference 180fan. I'll let you know how it works out when I install them. Thanks everyone.
