My 93 240SX driver side power window will not raise from the lowered position. I checked fuse - fuse is OK and the passenger side widow will raise and lower from the passenger door switch and the driver door switch. I took the driver's side door panel off and looked for any obvious problems with none noted. I bought a switch for the drivers door from a local junkyard and the problem did not change - the passenger window will operate but the driver window will not move from the lowered position. There is no driver side window movement or even noise.

Based on a search of this site, I ran a hot wire and a neutral from the car's battery to the driver side motor lead and I was able to raise the window. So, I have the window raised with the motor but the window does not respond to the original switch or a second switch I bought at a junkyard.

There is another "electrical box" on the driver side door marked amp? Anyone know what this does?

Suggestions? To recap - fuse seems OK and motor apparently is OK. Anyone found a wire that has come loose in a power window factory wiring harness?

Regards,

Scott Carter

The main in-cabin harness has two connections that go to the door harness. The door harness then has two connectors to operate the window. One connects to the switch and one to the window motor. By jumping the motor you've proven that the motor and regulator work fine. The problem is you are not getting voltage to the motor through the wiring harness. You'll have to back track through the harness to find out where it is you're having trouble. Not sure if its the amplifier, but you should check for voltage there too. Do you have a voltmeter?

get out your ohm meter and see if you have gnd at the blue with black tracer wire at your amp when you hold the window switch in the up position. If you do your amp is bad if not you need to make sure you have gnd availble at the black wire at your switch. if both those checks come out ok post back.
