i noticed the wire that connects to the O2 sensor was melted and stuck to the header. will that cause the car to idle funny or just run funny? because it is idling really low and sometimes the rpm's drop so low that the car cuts off. can i cut out the burned part and replace it with another wire? even the little connecter is melted.

Unplug the o2 sensor and monitor how it idles without o2 sensor connected. did it melt down to the metal? i would just wrap electric tape around burned part. your prolly better off to leave as is. adjust your idle up and clean iacv etc

oops, just remembered that o2 sensor does not affect idle so it cant be the problem. o2 sensor does not kick in until rpms are up to around 1500-2000

i cant unplug it because the connecter is melted but if your sure it cant be the problem then im not going to worry about it.

Replace your 02 sensor. I failed emissions because of the same problem, the wiring touched my dc sports header and melted the shrink tubing off in 3 places, so the sensor grounded out. Multimeter didn't get any reading from the 02 sensor. Car idles alright, but is running super SUPER rich because of the non-working 02 sensor. If I were you I'd replace the wiring (or the sensor all together) and zip tie it in a secure area next time. If that doesn't fix it. Delete your AIV box (or plug the box w/ a breather filter and plug the air intake side as well..in other words, delete the connection between the two )

i failed emissions after i melted my wire. my computer was saying o2 sensor was working fine. mechanic said i was running really rich and O2 sensor and computer had to be replaced. correlation doesnt mean causation, though.
