Let me first state that I should have known better but I was doing a headgasket on my 93 240sx and didn't mark which cam went where. As I removed them from the vehicle I laid them down - intake on the left and exhaust on the right. Little did I know a friend would stop by and picked them up to examine and you know the rest now I'm not sure which is which. The cam's are cast with 53F on both but one has a 3 cast into it the other has a 5. Any idea's? btw - I'm new here, but nice site!

lay the cams in front of you looking at where the gears mount. Now roll them so the first lobes are laying on the table facing away from each other. your intake dowel [the cam on your left]should be about 9:00 and your exhaust dowel [cam to your right] should be about 12:00. If the dowels are not there swap cams and reset the lobes as mentioned and you should get that set up.

there also should be small dots on them, 1 for intake and 2 for exhaust IIRC. they are stamped in the front part of the cam.

Thanks all for your help. Looking at the larger picture cam lobe position as well as dowel pins I think I've got it.
