93' 240SX EGR Valve Control Solenoid

Does not having one that is electrically connected kill my mpg enough to notice? I broke one on my car and tried to use a '96 solenoid. But pretty much destroyed the connector because it didn't fit and right now its connected with alligator clips. Pretty sure it doesn't work. Could this be killing my mpg alot? also i have the right one with a new connector. How would I find out the polarity of the wires for it? thanks

if you are having excessive gas use check your o2 sensor. A bad o2 sensor will make your car guzzle gas.
