First off... I own a '93 240sx SE Coupe Non-ABS. I noticed a little while back a little problem with the steering and/or suspension causing a pull (toward the right) when cornering towards the right. Let me explain in a bit more detail.

It happens driving around on the road, but it is (of course) much more noticeable on the track. Therefore, I will use my track experience to explain the problem.

Let's say I am coming up to a tight right hand corner. I get on the brakes to bring the car to the correct speed for the corner, then off the brakes, I then turn in toward the apex, at which time I notice a slight pull to the right, like it's trying to turn more than I want it to. However, if I continue turning the wheel(and get on the power), the car wanders a bit towards the outside of the turn. Then, when I bring the wheel back towards center, it feels like something is settling back in place. It's almost as if when I make medium to hard right turns, something is moving/giving under stress, and then settling again once the car returns to center.

I've had a few thoughts on this, but I'm just not sure. I ran some tests, to see if I could figure it out in the small amount of time I have to do such things. I checked all the mounting points on the steering rack to see if it was nice and snug, and level with the ground on both sides(after checking for ride height around the car). Nothing seemed off there. So, maybe an internal problem with the steering rack? My next thought was the suspension. The car was in an accident at one point, and although the damaged parts were all replaced, I realize that some of the geometry may be off. So I'm also thinking the front struts (probably just one of them actually) is not tightly mounted, or the mounting point was damaged somewhat in the accident, causing uneven suspension geometry. This of course will have to be checked by lifting the car and measuring all of the struts position (top and bottom) in relationship to the wheel wells (if this is wrong, by all means tell me a better way). Other than those few things, I am struggling to figure out what may be causing the problem.

I figured there would be no better place to go than to the most informative Nissan site on the web. Therefore, here I am, awaiting the input of knowledge. I hope with your help we can figure this out. Don't let me down.

Thank you

Sean

If it were my car

i would put your car on jackstands and take off all 4 wheels. Take measurements and compare then to the other side, see if anything is out of whack, check your tension rods for bends, LCA for bends, and make sure all your adjustment bolts are tight.

Orrrr you could just have an out of whack alignment, or never got one?!?

dig in, see what you find, post back and ill hceck back with ya
