I have run out of adjustment on the distributor. I know that I have to move one tooth, but which way to advance?

Also, the firing order is 1,2,4,3 correct? That's the order on the cap going clockwise, but the rotor seems to turn counter clockwise. It doesn't seem to make sense, but the car runs fine.

Adjust timing with a timing light. If you've gone too far on the adjustment, someone didn't install the distributor with enough space for adjustment (ie you gotta pull the thing after setting the engine to TDC and plug the dist back with a reasonable amount of space to either side). Otherwise I'd say turn left or right and follow what your timing light is saying.

Firing order should be 1-3-4-2 if i'm not mistaken
