Hey guys,

I have a 93 240SX Coupe with a strange transmission problem i think. Intermittently my transmission will get stuck in first gear. It winds up really high to like 6k and wont shift into second until i either come to a complete stop and start driving again. Sometimes I can coax it by letting off the gas then start to accelerate and then it will shift.

It also does the same thing between second and third as well.

Does this make sense?

This problem occurs only intermittently (like once a day). However the other 90% of the time it shifts nice and smooth. My transmission fluid is full and the color is not too bad (pinkish brown).

Do you guys have any insight you could lend me?

Thank u in advance.

Okay so what i gotfrom the sticky is that it could be a bad transmission, or i need to replace the TPS.

Is this correct or am I way off in left field?

you clearly read thr wrong thread or didnt make it to the end of the thread. Read the one on wont shift out of first. All the way through. There is a a bunch of tests in that thread. But near the end of it there is reffrence to a rev sensor problem and a way to verify its your problem.

Thank you NIstech. Now pulling the rev sensor to make my problem go away only works if I have a working speedometer correct?

My HUD gauge cluster's Tach doesnt read, nor does my speedometer.

So will pulling the rev sensor still work in my situation?

Help Nistech help....does disconnecting the rev sensor work to get transmission to shift only work if the gauge cluster's spedo is working properly_?

Thats how I understood the sticky.

sorry didnt catch your question earlier. No if the speedometer isnt working then unplugging the rev sensor wont help. Instead it will put the car in 3rd gear failsafe.
