Ok, so I got an Excedy OEM clutch installed th other day. Well they didn't road test it or adjust the pedal properly. The pedal had ZERO resistance the first half of the way down, and then felt really soft the rest of the way. To make it worse, the pedal would stick at that half way mark when I was letting it up, so after every start/shift I had to pull it up with my foot.

So I took it back.

They tell me the master cylinder is blown, so I say replace it. I had been prepared for that possibility anyway. They do and tell me the car is fixed. So I come and pick it up and.. guess what? It's almost exactly the same. The only difference is now there is a VERY SLIGHT ammount of stiffness the first half of the way down, just enough so that the pedal does not stick anymore. But it still has a noticable increase in stiffness at the half way mark. I

f you only push it in half way and romp the throttle it doesnt slip, which leads me to believe that it doesnt start to disengage the clutch pedal until you hit the resistance when you've pushed it in past half way.

So is this some sort of normal breakin that I am not aware of, or did they screw up.. again..

Every clutch has a different feel. Just get use to it.

.So you're telling me it's normal for the clutch to do nothing for the first half of the pedal action..? Not on any other manual I've ever driven........

You could always ask them to adjust the pedal to a better position for you.

Yes, it's a tighter clutch.
