gauge worked before 6 months storage with tank half full. Now needle sits way below empty after filling tank full. This happened once before about 2 years ago with the tank 3/4 full and noticed after starting the gauge pointer was below empty. Corrected after 2 days of driving around.

Removed fuel pump. Float moves through full E/F range as does the senderpointer attached to the pump body but no change in reading on the cluster.

Anyone else had this problem?

Traced this back to the round 6"disc (top) of the pump assembly and wiring harness. You'll see 4 plastic capped attachment points were Nissan uses press fitted brass inserts to attach 4 separate wires to this disc. The yellow wire reads the sender from the float. After removing the assembly from the gas tank (remove neg. battery cable first) clean each brass fitting and silver solder the fitting and wire from the tank facing (bottom) side.

I did all 4 wires including the one that supplies power to the electric fuel pump. If you have intermittent starting problems, where there's no fuel reaching the injector rail these connections may be the problem, not the pump itself. This also applies to vibrations while driving at speed where the engine seems to die or lose power.
