Somebody hit me over the head with a hammer.....I still don't have my 92Q transmission repaired.
I had one lined up from a guy on this site for $150, but I imagine the guy either sold it to someone else or can't get it parted out.
PopPop has one for $400 but I have to get it from MD. There is one in GA that is 3hr drive away, but I don't think its 92/93.
I'm still toying with the idea of rebuilding but what a freaking mess in the garage. Plus I don't know if the Torque converter is okay...I'm wondering if my local trans shop can give it a good bill of health. Do they even rebuild converters?
For the rebuild I read about increasing oil flow to one of the sprags, and adding additional clutches, etc....any good link on how-to for these items?
I fear that once I get into a rebuild I may find that it was a simple TQ issue or something....My car just sits with no movement in any gear. Let it sit in the garage for couple of days and somehow you could get the car started and back it out under its own power. But, forget driving it back in. There is the loud pump noise too....Somehow its loosing line pressure. Something must be wrong with the pump system or the torque coverter. I doubt the dealer can diagnose any specific issue with the trans, they just R&R the damn things.
