Here's the deal!

I just recently got the redtop swaped in...... lots of bolt on goodies and a few misc fabbed parts that werent available anywhere ..........

but my speedo doesn't work!

It will flutter (1-5mph or so) however when the BOV lets out air after shifting/pushing in the clutch after reving it up to 5k or so when under boost.....

Here's what I have checked allready.........

1. I checked my S-AVCR speed sensor and it's getting no signal from the speed sensor wire

2. I checked my HKS type 1 turbo timer and its not getting the signal either..... (this was pretty obvious though as both these units were connected to the sr20det ecu pinout #32 which should be the speed sensor wire which is Yellow and Green)

3.) I put the car up on Jacks/ started the car and put in first while idling to test voltage on the wire coming from the speed sensor (tested at the alternator harness location) and it seems to be working with a signal of .8 volts with the car idling at 800rpms or so in 1st gear.

The car was originally a 92 usdm Auto......

I've done the reverse light conversion wiring stuff to work with the 5speed JDM s13 transmission but something is WRONG and the signal is not getting to the ECU it seems.......

any advice is greatly appreciated

attached is a pic of the car.....this is just one of the last lil' bits before it hits the track and gets some serious tuning

is the speed sensor plugged in? Possibly your speed sensor is bad. I used a USDM speed sensor in my sr transmission. Dunno if that's what's causing your problem.

I found the problem by tracing the schematics in the factory manual.....

apparantly when you do an auto to manual swap...... or at least when you are putting in an sr transmission while doing the swap you have to splice the speedo sensor wires.....

plugs you need to splice are:

Female connector E201 and male connector E 202

I just spliced the yellow/blue stripe wire with the same.........then the yellow/black stripe wire with the same....

cutting off the male E201 connector from the old KA harness makes things easier.........

I never saw this step mention ANYWHERE before so maybe it will be of use to someone else here down the road......

Wish I had seen the info before digging into the Manual..... (but I solved it fairly quickly..... could have been a nightmare though....)

later~

another thing is that 1 male connector has about 7 wires while the other one only has 4 or something......even if i did splice there would be wires just hanging....im not sure whats going on here.....thanks
