i have a 1992 s13 hatch and there is a strange elec. prob. ok so here it goes...1: when i turn the key to ON (not start) the clock turns on but its blank2: none of the gauges work ie. the door opening light, check engine light, seatbelt light etc.3: the AT seatbelt function doesnt operate when i turn OFF the car but it only works with the car ON and when the door opens.4: the clock always reverts back to 1:00 every time the engine is started.5: the STOCK radio doesnt save the stations to its memory.6: and lastly the horn doesnt work.

what do you think the problem is? is it a grounded wire? if it is how am i suppose to trace it?

thanks

I have the same problem but haven't looked into it. The seatbelts are the annoying part

I think my horn works though..

anyway, I'll be keeping an eye on this thread too

Haha. Same here..............only with my old Z car. I knew it was the battery terminals when it got bad enough that the car just made a clicking noise when I tried to start it. Cleaned the 1" thick layer of green crust off of the positive battery terminal and tightened it up and it never happened agian. lol

Although I think I've heard similar problems on 240's with bad alternator fuses.

Check the fuse box under the hood near the battery for blown fuses.

take off you terminals and examin for corrosion, then clean it off and put it on tight. that should solve it. i had the same problem and sometimes it wont crank.

Sounds like crossing circuits to me. The clock resetting makes me think that the 12v const is getting grounded somewhere when the engine is started. That should set you on your way. I suspect the harness that's damaged is behind the radio behind the dash. I'd start probing around there.

yeah the stereo and clock not working is your 12V constant not operating correctly.
