Make sure both (on right side wheels only) are in good working condition or bypassed. Then check & replace the fuses you need. Usually related to the ILL and TAIL LAMPS fuses.

I would look at the light switch stalk itself to be sure switch is not worn out. I assume you have checked all fuses,relays, and fusable links???
Considering you said they came on momentarily when you switched them on leads me to suspect the switch itself first.
