I found a link similar to my problem however It didn't really provide the answer I need. I just bought this car aweek ago it started fine until this morning. turn the key and dash lights work fuel pump humms and there is a clicking noise under the shifter and by the fuse box. I asked the guy I bought it from and he said it happened to him once but he just let it sit for an hour and it never happened again. any suggestions??

Don't know where you are (incomplete profile), but welcome to the club.

A little difficult to tell from your description. Are you hearing a continuous relay clicking when you crank?

Be sure to read about the timing chain guides in the Infiniti Articles Forum first. You may want to attend to the guides first before ever cranking the engine again. Most stress on the timing chain is at initial cold crank.

When I turn the key and it just clicks once sounds like a dead battery although I just changed it and tried using a jump pack. I found in a another forum reference to the anti theft system ign. cutoff I tried what they suggested turn the key in the trunk twice and it started I let it warm up and drove about 20 feet and it killed and now its doing the same thing ( tried the alarm thing again and its a no-go). Sorry about the incomplete profile I was able to fix that.

OK i seemed to have fixed it I just held the key as far as it would go towards start where I can hear the starter relay click then I just wiggled it back and forth until it finally turned over. I shut it off and restarted it a good dozen times but so far no trouble. Still a little worried tough I know a problem doesn't just go away. maybe it's the relay?? Any suggestions.

Kinda sounds like the ignition switch, they go bad from time to time in the 90-93 it seems.

Change [replace with brand new no used junkyard stuff] the blue relay left of ABS first.

I was thinking relay too. I can hear it click every time I turn the key so I figured it couldn't be the switch because it's getting power right?? I'm gonna try the relay first. Probably alot cheaper and easier. I do have a little play in the switch. This car is an electrical nightmare. Somebody half assed putting in a radio and strobe lights. I spent a good hour taking out dead end wiring. You can spend all the money you want on after market **** but it'll never look as good as original. Where's the best place to find a good shop manual for this car. All this electronic stuff intimidates me a little. Pre-injection GM is all I really know very well. Thanks for all the suggestions by the way. The site is very well put together. Learned more about this car in 45 minutes of reading then I could have hoped to figure out in a week of troubleshooting.
