ive had the car for a while now i love everything about it.
its ran strong for a while now kept it clean changed the spark plugs, was about to order another maf,its the tcu or the ecu that allows it to take off in 1st rather than second, tokiko blues, axis 19"s,and more little things here and there.. but yesterday i warmed my car up in the morning for about 5 min then drove to the gas station(5 miles) parked when i got back in my car i started it up and it indicated "transmission malfunction" so i turned it off waited a few then started it again.no indicator signals so i shifted into reverse nothing went into gear ish just wouldnt back up...so i put into nutural and was able to push it back and then put it in d and it drove.goodthing my shop was a block away...now im stumped..none of the gears work when i put in n it jerks a little when i press the gas?...idk im lost im about to just buy another transmission...oh i need a maf if someone can help lol
if anyone has advice that would help me out so much i love this car after getting a q i think ill always have a inifiti for now on...

With the TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION warning on there's going to be stored codes. Complete the transmission self-check outlined in the AT section of the FSM. Your 92Q will be the same self-test as the 94Q. If the shop has a lift there's a bundle of 3 (or 4?) sensors at the rear of the transmission that can be easily ohm tested. Detailed instructions for this are in the same AT section of the FSM. The problem could be as simple as a bad sensor.

While you're driving around warming the transmission up for the self-check add a bottle of Lucas Transmission Treatment or Lubeguard (red or black, not sure) prior to the warmup to possibly clean up any gunk plugging the transmission internals. Before the naysayers chime in.....at this point you've got nothing to lose. Hopefuly you've kept the transmission fluid clean along the way by doing a drain and fill (3 1/2 qts.) with each oil change.

hmmm first thing im going to do in the morning is check those sensors, ive seen in other post people talking about the sensors going bad i just wasnt sure.ill find out tho.im going to replace the fluid too.i dont think its the original tanny either.because the original transmission doesnt have a drain plug?right...but i was under mine the other day and saw mine had one. so that will make it easier.or do you think i should go ahead and change the pan seal and the filter.i recently added an external oil cooler too.honestly it could a l10 in not for sure.
i really want to keep this car alive,i saw that jim wolf makes a adapter plate for the bell housing for the six speed out of the g35s and the 350?any knowledge about that? that would be sick.id sell my supra and do the swap in a heart beat. im really trying to invest in this car.i was just about to get some coilovers too.

well today i let the car warm up checked the fluid might have been alittle over on the transmission fluid.so i drained about a half qrt. but still nothing better.but when i start the car it jerks a some does the same when its in p and n and i press the gas.it will drive forward in 3,d. but nothin in R,1,2,N,P.? i dont think this is the original transmission seems like the owner that had it put some work into it.im not to fond of nissan but i have my fair share with hondas and toyotas and out of them all nissan made the vh45de an excellent engine part for part.
now i noticed that the was sensor under the drive side headers that looks like its been leaking so it might be bad. im about to do some research.

My transmission is doing something similar except I only lost reverse. Suggestions? I`m going to do the self check tomorrow. I downloaded the FSM as well so I don`t expect it to be TOO hard but who knows (except you guys lol).
