92 Q45 oil in spark plug sleeve

I changed the spark plugs in our 92 Q45 last weekend. I noticed when changing one of the plugs there was a small amount of oil on the spark plug "boot" and down at the bottom of the sleeve the spark plug set in. After pulling out plug it looked fine with no oil on electrode. The oil was only on the side of the plug the boot fits on. This was only on one plug. Any ideas?

Thanks for the reply. It seems if it was a leaky valve cover there would be more oilk that I would have noticed. How did oil get from the valve cover inside to where the spark plug boot fits on the spark plug? Wouldn't there be oil leaking on the outside fo the motor? Thanks, Paul

The valve cover seals around the outside onto the head, and also in rings around the spark plug sleeves, so it's possible to have a leak into a spark plug sleeve without a leak onto the heads and exhaust. This is pretty common.

I had a similar situation as I did my plugs last week. Just a little oil on the boot of #8...but nothing on the plug. I've done a little research, but still am not sure. Is this valve cover gasket a liquid gasket or paper? I'm thinking it is liquid. Let me know if anyone is sure.

I think the '96 has a solid gasket. I know the '94-'95 are solid. Not paper, some kind of rubber.
