I know...I know...this has been posted several times b4. I just can't find the right thread with the info...phone #s etc...

Today, I think the left front amp started to die on my '92 Q. It started hissing like crazy even at no volume and the balance/fader makes no change. It still works just with poor sound quality at both ends of the spectrum...no highs or lows. It had done that when I first got her several years ago and I thought I fixed it by cleaning and mushing the harness plug terminals to make a better contact.

Anyway, I know I've read in this forum a long time ago that Bose will rebuild/repair the front speaker/amps for FREE. Is this right or was I dreaming again. Or might anyone know the amp problems? I'm pretty handy with a soldering iron and could easily replace a capacitor or diode myself...;)

Forgot to mention...the dealer has already fixed the rears for free under the recall...

thanks for any info...Robert

Must talk sweetly to Bose CS Rep when she fields your call. Only around $75 per speaker if your charm doesn't work.

I'm going to hold back this time on my Bose tirade. :) Another option, is to pick up use amps from the junkyard. Some say the equalization and imaging is different -- I havent noticed. I got my replacement amps from a wrecked 95 Mazda Milennia for $35 a piece with a 6 month junkyard warranty (Spalding Auto Parts in Spokane WA). Theyre working great for a year and a half now.

Of course, rebuilt would probably be better, especially for free. But $35 is cheap. :)
