92 Q45 climate control

Hi I am new to this forum. I live in the South Bend Indiana area so the climate ranges anywhere for -10 to 95. I have a 92 Q45 with 160k on it the climate control display does not light up anymore. The Auto, Econ, Defrost and Fan work but will take up to 45 minutes to kick in. Had my mechanic look it over and said all the fuses, wires and relays were fine. The question is should I buy and "new" used climate control and have it installed or suffer until spring?
