Hi guys i have a 92 Q45 with the sony 10 Disc CD Changer. It seems to skip a bit more with some cd's than others. Some cd's it will skip every 10 seconds or so even on a smooth surface. I am wondering is there a better unit that i can use in this car? If so would it be hard to change out? I have tried running a lens cleaner through it but didn't seem to help much. Some cd's it isn't that bad only bumps (which i would expect on an older cd changer) make it skip, but other cd's skip all the time. So any advice would be great.

Clarion 6 disc is much better - plugs right in, if I remember correctly.

Earlier Q's (9093) used a different "plug" than the later ones. Not sure if there's a Clarion with the right plug.

I have an earlier Q Sony 10 disc I bought to put in my 94 and discovered the plugs were too different if you're interested.

90-93 and 94-96 totally different systems,90-93 was not controlled thru headunit, and required a interface in console-94-96 was integrated into headunit-the 2 are not interchangable w/o swapping decks, etc

So is there really no easy option other than try another 10 Disc Sony?

How about one with an FM modulator? You tune your radio to a preset FM channel and the signal comes in through the antenna. The CD changer doesn't care what head unit you have since it doesn't plug into it.

There's one for sale in the Infiniti Parts forum.

hmm i will have to look into that. The problem is i don't like fm modulated stuff quality doesn't seem to be as good. But if it doesn't skip like crazy then might be worth it.
