I have read the thread on bypassing the sensor on the passenger side front and rear calipers to eliminate the "brake pad worn" message. I cut the wire and twisted them together but want to make sure I did this right because my message didnt go out. My question is after cutting the wire on the driver front caliper (the 2 wires were not copper but more of a silver wire after I stripped them) I twisted together the 2 wires coming from the car. Is this right? What do I do with the wires cut at the caliper? Another thing is the rear caliper had copper wires after I cut them and stripped them?? Thanks in advance for the help! Nel

I know the fronts need to be jumpered. I just stripped a wire, and inserted it in the plug, then taped up the plug so I could go back ot the OEM pads, if necessary. The rears may be the opposite. Try taking the wires loos on the rear and see if that makes it go away.

My fronts are still connected to the pads but my rear is disconnected. I did just what you said, but twisted and put connector on it. Doesn't matter what you do with the wires out of the caliper. Both front and rear are the same. If the two wires are not connected to each other, you get the indicator on the dash. If they are connected it should turn off. Make sure you have the wires tied together where they lead back to the car wiring harness and make sure you either put a connector on them or tape them up so they don't touch anything.

Pads should come with the sensor as they have to be replaced after worn. I'm sure some vendors don't include the sensors in the pads tho. I use Autozone Pads with the lifetime warranty and have been happy with them. They have always given me the sensors with the pads. I never have to buy pads again, when they wear out I just take them in and get new ones as I've already done two or three times in the last 4-5 years.

I woudn't worry about finding that Diagnositic info display unit unless you either have already replaced the brake sensors or have bypassed them. It's really easy out at the wheels.

Hey I got the autozone pads too and on the rears all I got was a new spring for the sensor. I replaced everything and am still getting the worn pads indicator. Did you get something else?

welcome to NICO ismael.......

Just cut the wires for the sensor and short them together.

Like this. Cut the wires. Discard the sensor end of the assembly. Splice or solder the connector end wires together. Tape it up real good and plug it back in. If you do this to both front and rear passenger side sensors the brake pad warning message should be gone.

The sensors are great to have but they give you too much advance notice that your pads are worn and then you are stuck looking at the warning message for thousands of miles. If it didn't take out the odometers it wouldn't be so bad. Sort of like the low black ink message on my printer and then I end up printing another 100 pages just fine.

Seems to me that the sensors are timed pretty well. I have pushed it after the sensor trips before, and find that you're about 1000 - 2000 miles from metal to metal contact.

I think it's a very good idea to short it out on the sensor side of the plug (as shown above) vs. damaging the wiring on the harness side. That way, if you (or a future buyer) ever wants the functionality as designed, you can just plug in a new sensor.

I must agree I got the warning and by the time I freed up my schedule to crawl under the car I was nearly at metal to metal contact too. So is there no way simply to reset the display and keep the sensor function?
