Someone please help, I have a 92 Q45 109k miles that I can no longer drive because it constantly blows the brake light fuse. I have replaced the bulbs but they still blow. I have tail & hazard lights but no brake lights. I don't know if this is related but I now have to push the over-ride button to get the car out of park. Does anyone have any idea where to look next to solve the problem? Help with any suggestions. I tried new bulbs but same result

I haven't had this problem myself so I can only speak from past posts in this forum.

Our Q's are very sensitive to non-OEM bulbs and it seems that non-OEM brake bulbs are the worst offenders. You may have shorted out a bulb socket. Pull the bulbs you've been replacing and take a look at the female sockets. Chances are you will see the two leads melted together and shorting out.

Do some searches and you'll find many posts related to this same issue. And since I'm the first one to respond to your problem I get to ask- Have you changed out your plastic timing chain guides? Do a search on this also to bring yourself up to date on this problem that could potentially ruin your engine.

Someone else will have to chime in to speak on your transmission issue. I think it's a sensor but again I have not had this issue so I don't want to guess. Another thing for you to do a search on. Good luck with your electrical gremlins.

I had this problem wiht my Q.. Turned out to be a short in some of the wires in the trunk area by where the trunk hinges up and down... Apparently the wires get pinched and such.

Yeah I knew there was another cause for the brake light burning out but couldn't remember and didn't have time to do a search this morning. Is the short in the sunvisor wiring another cause or does that just affect the illumination circuit?

Doesn't count if: 1.) They were not OEM or Sylvania LL 2.) the sockets are not corrosion free and the wiring connecting them is not well soldered.

The short in my internal visor only affected the TAIL LIGHTS and dash lights. My stop lights worked fine.Cheers

You Guys are awesome, the problem was with the bulbs. they had melted in the socket. Replace sockets on left tail light, and abra kadabra, no more fuses blown. Thanks to everyone of you.
