For the past couple months my 92 Q has been giving me an ABS warning light. Each time I see it, I take it to get it check out and every time i do they refil the Brake fluid. At first i thought it was the brake pads but then i realized it was a problem with the actual ABS system. Someone here looked at it when i pressed the brake pedal and every time I did, a celnoid or something spued out break fluid.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Common in early Qs that haven't had regular brake fluid changes. The ABS block is very expensive and can only be bought from a dealer.

You mean the ABS actuator? The large block with metal tubes on the right firewall?

The e-brake light doubles as a low-fluid warning, so I'm not exactly sure why the ABS light is coming on too unless the fluid is very low! In any case, A-1 Cardone remanufactures the actuator for a fraction of the cost of a new one (about $1200 Joe price if I remember correctly). I've gotten several years service out of mine with no problems yet... I'd start checking for someone to send it to Cardone to remanufacture it. PepBoys used to do a good bit of business with Cardone, but I'm not sure if that's still the case.

Yes, but I found the remaufacturing to be less expensive, and most used parts don't have a warranty. The desirable one is from a 1993 model year Q, since they upgraded the seals in that unit. The ABS Actuator changed designs in 1994 so there are a lot of people chasing 1993 units.

Alright thanks...Hopefully I can find a place to get this done. Do you know of anywhere in the louisville/ Indianapolis/ Cincinatti area that can do this for a reasonable price?

Here's your worst case scenario for the part.

I'd check here for someone locally who stocks or deals with them. If you're into DIY, it's fairly straight - forward. Really no more difficult than replacing the master cylinder. Any competent tech. should be able to do the swap.
