Your best bet is a rebuilt unit, but they're pricey ($800+)...

Here's the trick: Go to http://www.car-part.com/, search for 92 Q45 ABS pump or modulator. Look for the part number on yours (it will be something like this: 41810 60U00) and match it up. Call the place and ask if they ship.

I would get in touch with A1 Cardone, http://www.cardone.com and see how to get one rebuilt there. Many years ago, I was able to get it done through Pep Boys for a couple of hundred dollars.

Thanks! The part # I can see on mine is 47600-60U01. The place where mine is leaking appears to be from a vertical "tube" (not a hose) about the diameter of a pencil that goes from the upper to the lower portion of the housing. I can't see a split in it but when I step on the brakes, it shoots brake fluid forward towards the radiator. Is this entire housing one piece or will I need to find more than one part?

Hey, Q451990! Do you still have the 1st gear start TCU for sale? If so, how hard is to install?
Also, thanks for the advice. I will contact A1 Cardone if I can't find a usable part online. Did you see my post above asking as to whether or not part # 47600-60U01 includes the "tube" or line that is leaking brake fluid in my '92? Any advice you can provide will be much appreciated. Also, I see that you're just up the road from me in Columbia! Go Clemson!

Unfortunately, the tube is part of the entire assembly. Just searching for that part makes me want to go flush my brake fluid... yowsers!

Yes, I still have the TCU. It's easy to swap out. It's located under the kick cover beside the emergency brake pedal on the driver's side. One 10 mm nut to remove the cover, and a couple of Phillips head screws and a 10mm screw to remove the harness. The whole swap should take about 15 minutes. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

If you can keep an eye out for a Q at a salvage yard, that's going to be your cheapest option by far. I think a 1993 Q would be the last year that used that particular ABS actuator, and supposedly the pump was updated by then to make it less likely to leak. Check out www.car-part.com and also keep an eye on www.pullapart.com - although Q's aren't very common there anymore.

Also be sure to get the correct abs unit.....if I recall correctly,the traction controlled cars were the only ones to use 4 wheel abs- the non traction controlled cars used a 3 channel abs {both rear wheels operated together off one channel}

Thanks! I found an Actuator yesterday in a junk-yard here in SC and am waiting for it to arrive. Supposedly it's in "A" condition. We'll see when it gets here. In any case, I think I got the right one as the part #s match and they sent me a pic (looks right). My Q does have TCS.

I really appreciate your help and I will definitely PM you to make arrangements to get the TCU. Taking off in first gear. What a concept!

Good deal! I'd hold on to your old one in case you need to have it rebuilt in the future. These cars are getting pretty rare in the salvage world...

OK, the junk-yard sent me Nissan part #47600-70U00. Mine is 47600-60U01. Looks the same except the important part on top where the serial # plate is, where all the brake-lines come in/out and where it's leaking from. Doesn't look to me like it's going to line up with my existing brake-lines. Does anybody know enough about Nissan part #s to tell me whether or not these are interchangeable or not and whether I can make it work? I provided my VIN # when I did the search for the part.

If they matched the part #s before shipping and then you got a different one, they need to take it back and swap it out.

They don't hire real smart people to pull parts in junkyards, so you may have to do a little babysitting to get what you need.

Amazing. Online from Infiniti is $1279.80.

The part number you received is off of a 94-96.

Thanks! I went to the infinitipartsUSA site today and figured out the part was for 94-96. Waiting for the junk-yard to send me a call tag to return it.

If Infiniti has new ones left for the price of a rebuilt unit, I'll just do that. I thought it was a discontinued part.

Tried to email you about the 1st gear start TCU yesterday at your aol address. Is there another way that I should reach to you?

I think I'd still try to hold out for a used unit. I'm getting cheap(er) in my old age though. It looked like quite a few were available on http://www.car-part.com. These are the two I would probably check on first. The 1993 model would be your best choice, since it was the last year that had that style of actuator, and supposedly Infiniti had changed to more robust seals by then.

I just noticed something... Your part number matches up with a non TCS car. My actuator has p/n 47600-60U00, but if I search for a replacement on Infiniti's parts web site, it says it's part number was superseded by part 47600-60U01, which is the part number you said is on your actuator.

I would go to Infiniti's parts website and see what part number is recommended by entering your VIN. http://parts.infinitiusa.com/ then click the "PARTS" box under the picture of the Q50.

I'm not sure if the part is actually available through Infiniti. If you do go the new route, I'd check with http://www.orderinfinitiparts.com - they're just up the road in Charlotte, so you'll get it faster than from AZ.

I found the email today looking through there... I don't use the AOL account much anymore. Anyway, I just sent an email to you.

OK, so I followed your advice and went to the Infiniti site and entered my VIN #. 47600-60U01 does show up as the correct ABS Actuator Assembly part # for my car, even though it is a TCS car. Giving the junk yard one more day to find the right part or give me a refund so I can look elsewhere.

OK. Found a replacement Actuator in a junk yard and installed it. Good news is that it's no longer spraying brake fluid all over the place. Bad news is that my TCS, Slip and anti-lock dash indicator lights are on now and won't go off.

Ideas?

Did you bleed the brakes thoroughly?

Disconnect the battery, make sure all connections are 100% tight, and reinstall battery.

Tried all that. Even tried swapping the relay from the old control module (mounted on the actuator) out with the new one. Guess I'm going to have to remove the glove box and see what kind of error codes I'm getting?

OK, I've tested the solenoids in the ABS Actuator assembly. I read 1.8 ohms on all three of them; which is higher than they should read; according to the shop manual. So, I decided to test the solenoids on the old actuator (it leaked but my ABS and TCS worked fine) and the all read the same (1.8 ohms). Don't know where to go from here.

Still checking things. I now believe that the ABS and TCS are, in fact, working but the indicator lights stay on. The TCS and Slip lights come on about 10 seconds after the car is started. The ABS light comes on when you get rolling 5 or 10 MPH.

Fixed! Found a wire pulled loose from the connector on the harness coming out of the used Actuator. Everything works and no more leaking brake fluid! Total cost of the repair under $300.00. Thanks to everyone for the advice.
