I have a 92 Q with front driver seat springs that are getting very soft. I am not sure how the seats are put together so I would like to know if it is reasonable to have an upholstery shop replace springs or is there a spring assembly that can be purchased for the seat?

ThanksKen K

You can get the entire pad assy from scottsdale. Something like $150 each.

I think they're more like $550. :(

My guess is that you'd be better off finding a seat pad out of a lower mileage 90-93 and then having the leather replaced to match your car...

Hmmm.... I have 88K miles on my Q, which I thought was pretty low mileage. I suppose I can try to find a Q which has been in process of being parted out from a wrecking yard. Any idea how to go about that for someone not in the business?

ThanksKen K

SO is what your saying the seats are too squishy, IE you sink down too far..

If thats the case, you could have an upholstery shop stuff it with firmer foam....

Unless your car has been exposed to pretty extreme downward forces (and I'm 245 so I'd say well over that) I don't think it should be broken down that much at 88K... Might be worth trying Wes's suggestion, or pulling the cushion just to see if anything is obviously out of place.

Yeah... Mine at 126k (with my skinny arse, but someone had a fat arse to put a rip in the leather like that) is still fine. Its a bit hard from the old leather and flatted down padding, but its decent.

Thanks. I will take it to an upholstery shop and see what they have to offer. Despite the relatively young age the springs do seem to be much less firm on the driver's side than on the passenger side.
