The following list of replacement bulbs is from the Sylvania site. I have searched the forum and the only recommendation I came upon in the forums was for the Long Life (9006LL). There apparently is no Long Life for the high beams. What are the downsides to using the Ultra (or the High Performance )?

ThanksKen K

If you enter the year in the dhart drill down, it should give you the corect bulb.

Aren/t the high beams H1 or H3?

THe ST suffix indicates Silver Star.

Thanks. I did the drilling for the numbers--that is what is posted. What I want to know is which of the various product lines that I posted, mainly why not the Silverstar Ultra, which they claim is brighter than the regular Silverstar?

Here is a chart off of their site:http://www.sylvania.com/Consum...t.htm

Thanks,Ken K

"Best" vs. "Premeium"? Shakespeare was wrong, we need to shoot the marketing department first!

Don't know about the new one, and don't know anyone who has them installed. Read carefully.

Gotcha.

If I am not mistaken, you had posted back in 2003 that you have the Silverstar Long Life installed? Still pleased with them?

ThanksKen K

Brightness all depends on your eyes and the chromatic responses of your eyes.

Every driver depending on age and eye color and genetics will have a different response.

I've got one ST and 1 regular now they seem to last ok a few years depending on hours of operation.

I always keep spares in the trunk to change on side of road.

I had Silverstars installed in my old G20. I loved them and they lasted about two years before blowing out, but I attribute that partially to weakening weather seals on a 12 year old car. I'm looking around now for a set of Silverstar Ultras for my I30...

Q45tech (or anyone)

Is there an issue with the amount of heat that any of the bulbs gives off versus that given off by the OEM bulbs with regard to the deterioration of any nearby parts?

ThanksKen K

Silver Star and Long Life are different. My Silver Stars are still fine in all three cars.

Current draw is the same (very important!), so one may infer the heat produced is the same.

Until recently, the best non-OEM accessory bulbs were Long Life only.

Maxnix,

And "since recently"....?????

Am I correct, then, in assuming that either the Long Life or the regular Silver Stars are just fine. Do you know about the Ultras?

ThanksKen K

P.S. Must ask. Is Maxnix short for the German expression machts nichts?
