I foolishly hit the driver's side rearview mirror and broke the swivel of the housing. It appears that there are three screws that hold the mirror onto the mount and they are sheared off.

I have a few questions:

1, I know how to remove the inside door panel, but I do not recall seeing how the triangular piece that covers the mirror mount is removed. Is it easy to get to?

2. Is the mirror assembly all one unit or is the mirror with swivel available separate from the mount?

3. What other questions should I be asking??!!

Thanks,Ken K

I am having trouble posting the photo. It is only 67K, so I am not sure what is wrong...

You're going to have to replace the mirror.

indeed... FWIW, you can buy a mirror with a different color and you can replace the colored part with the one off your car....

Thanks for the info. That makes one less decision. Are there any parts inside the mirror that might rust? In other words, should I be wary of purchasing a unit from a car that has seen much time in the snow, where they salt the roads?

ThanksKen K

Wes, when I bashed the mirror, I sheared off three bolts that hold the swivel mechanism. Do you know if when I remove my original color (white) back to change out with a purchased one, if I will need to drill out the sheared-off bolts?

Also,is there anything tricky about removing the mirror from the housing? I have never had to change out the mirror and/or motor before.

ThanksKen K
