My power locks have worked inconsistently for years, they work maybe 80-90% of the time. A few years back I looked in the service manual and saw a power lock relay in front of the airbag module in the center console, figured I'd order the part and replace it whenever it got bad. Worth a try, at least.

In the past month the power locks have barely worked at all, so figured it's time to replace it. I pulled apart the center console but the car does not match what the service manual says. There is no power lock relay sitting in front of the airbag module. There is one white connector (yellow on both ends) but there is no relay in between.

The part I got is obviously an accessory or ignition relay which is just to the right of the fuse box... but I find it hard to believe one of the relays is faulty since I should have a lot more symptoms than just funny power locks. Also, I can't tell from the service manual which relay controls the power locks (diagrams are confusing).

Anyone have any ideas?

I think you may be looking at the wrong end of the center console. I think the two relays (blue / black ) in the left of the pic the ones you are looking for. They are at the very rear (aft) end of the center console, not the front.

The blue relays are interchangeable with all the other blue releays in the Q with the same P/N. There's at least 6 to 8 of them tucked away in all the tight places and a couple in the main fuse box.

Your console looks different than mine. I have a grey box behind the airbag module but there's no way that relay fits anywhere in or near that box. I didn't try removing the grey box for fear it might be airbag-related.

Power locks are working again, though. Maybe playing with it was enough.

The relays could be under the gray box if it's at the lower end of the center console. The relays (one is labeled door lock timer) are mounted upside down on a bracket deep in the console. In the pic I've removed the 2 screws holding the bracket and brought them up topside for clarity.
